What is pre-vaccination Puppy Training?
Making the choice to embark upon Pre-Vaccination Puppy Training is giving your puppy the best possible start in life.
Pre-Vaccination Puppy Training allows you to get a head start on developing good behaviour patterns for your puppy and to prevent bad behaviour patterns from developing.
Generally, most people who acquire a dog feel that they have plenty of time before needing to begin training. Or maybe they don't even think about training, until one day they wake up and find they have a problem. For many years general opinion would have it that six-months of age was time enough to begin training. Fortunately, more and more people are realising that “waiting” is seldom if ever, the best option. Waiting until your pup is six-months means you have let the most important part of your dog’s life go by without having had any influence on his behaviour patterns which will influence the rest of your life together.
At the age of six-months your dog will have established his own pecking-order despite who you think is in control, your dog may see this differently. This in turn means that you and your dog may have big problems ahead. At six-months the owner usually looks for help from Trainers and Behaviourist and potentially they end up spending a fortune on trying to reform their now so-called 'Delinquent Dog'.
WHAT KIND OF TRAINING?
The type of early training we are talking about is based upon some facts of our domestic dog’s wild ancestors. When a litter of pups is born in the wild, the mother doesn't wait until the pups are six-months before she decides to teach them how to hunt, or teach them where they belong within the pack. The pups would die very quickly if left to act on their own initiative for this length of time.
ROLE PLAY!
The pups are taught to hunt in a fun manner during play sessions, they also begin to learn where they fit in within their immediate pack from about three to four weeks of age. They learn by pushing and shoving from day one who gets to the best food source first, to have the best sleeping place and in doing so they learn who is the strongest amongst them. They learn also to respect the adult members of the wider pack from the moment they leave the Den. Why then shouldn't we take on the responsibility and role of the mother and equip the pup with the rules and orders he needs to fit into our social order? Dog's need instruction and order within a pack, it is this very need that makes them such an acceptable pet.
Pre-vaccination puppy training gives people the opportunity to have their puppy trained and any potential problems avoided at the earliest possible time. This is taught in the comfort and safety of your own home, usually when the puppy is between 8weeks and 12 weeks.
The family will learn to handle and care for their puppy in the home environment, issues dealt with include:
-
Toilet & Crate Training
-
Grooming and Handling
-
Socialising before vaccinations are complete.
-
Basic Training Exercises
-
Feeding
-
Playing
By the time puppy is ready to go out into the world, he will have learn most of the basics in dog training and will be well on his way to being the socially acceptable dog we all hope to have.
